TeamViewer, a remote control and online collaboration software company, unveiled five key principles for password creation today, May 5, to celebrate World Password Day.

TeamViewer emphasized that passwords should be changed periodically, just like changing underwear, and kept from being publicly exposed, and recommended that users block unauthorized access by others by adding a layer of security through two-factor authentication in addition to creating strong passwords.



The five principles for creating TeamViewer passwords are as follows.
First, use a different password for each account.
Second, do not share your password with others.
Third, change your password periodically.
Fourth, do not use personal information in your password.
Fifth, use two-factor authentication.

Andreas Heißel, Head of Security at TeamViewer, stated, “TeamViewer prioritizes user security and privacy,” adding that it is not easy for most users to remember multiple passwords. He recommends always using secure passwords. "There are various free options available that maintain security levels while using a single strong password," he explained.

What is World Password Day?
Security researcher Mark Burnett first recommended designating a "Password Day" in his book *Perfect Passwords*, published in 2005. Inspired by his idea, Intel Security proposed in May 2013 that "World Password Day" be designated as the first Thursday of May every year.
