EMC unveiled a variety of products and services for modern data centers at the 'EMC World 2016' event, which began on May 2.

EMC World 2016, held under the subtitle 'Modernize,' focused on companies that need to reduce the costs of operating existing IT infrastructure and respond quickly to the business environment. Accordingly, EMC presented the 'Modern Data Center' as a solution to support IT environments within a limited budget and unveiled products and services based on it.

In his keynote speech on the first day, EMC President David Goulden stated, “The first step in supporting both the present and the future on a limited budget is the modernization of IT infrastructure,” and emphasized that “flash, scale-out, software-defined, and cloud scalability are key elements for a modern data center.”

On the first day of EMC World 2016, EMC unveiled 'EMC Unity,' a new mid-range all-flash storage product equipped with 3D NAND SSDs; 'Virtustream Storage Cloud,' an object cloud storage service for enterprises; 'eCDM,' which allows for easy management of replicated data such as snapshots; 'EMC ViPR Controller 3.0,' a software-defined solution supporting more than 50 storage products; and 'MyService360,' a dashboard service that allows for monitoring and managing the status of data centers and various resources at a glance.



Unity, announced by EMC, which named 2016 the "Year of All Flash," is a mid-range platform suitable for the branch offices of medium-sized and small businesses or large enterprises, helping companies transition to modern data centers conveniently and at low cost.
EMC, which has already released all-flash storage products such as 'XtremIO', 'DSSD D5', and 'VMAX All-Flash', now possesses a diverse and powerful all-flash portfolio with the launch of Unity.

'Virtustream Storage Cloud' is a storage platform that provides enterprise-level resilience and performance, which EMC [released] last year Virtustream, acquired in May, possesses solutions that support the migration and management of core mission-critical workloads, such as SAP, to the cloud. The latest platform announced helps securely protect, manage, and store mission-critical data in the cloud. It is already being used as a core object storage platform by enterprises that need to manage exabyte-scale data and hundreds of billions of objects, and monitor over 35 billion events.

eCDM (Enterprise Copy Data Management) is a solution that resolves data sprawl, a phenomenon where copies of identical data proliferate and become difficult to manage. It prevents disorderly data sprawl from causing unnecessary costs and negatively impacting data management by necessitating the storage and management of large quantities of duplicate data.
According to IDC, replicated data accounts for 60% of total storage capacity, and the resulting costs amount to $50 billion globally.

'Viper Controller 3.0' is the latest version of 'Viper Controller,' which exists as a virtual software layer between servers and storage to control heterogeneous storage environments, including underlying files, blocks, and objects. It facilitates the transition to modern data centers by bridging existing and cloud-native environments to enable business transformation. Through this new update, it supports over 50 storage products from third-party manufacturers as well as EMC, helping customers manage multi-vendor storage environments in an integrated manner.

Finally, 'MyService360,' an analysis and visualization tool service dashboard, is a cloud-based service dashboard available at no extra cost to any customer registered with EMC Online Support. It provides near real-time visualized information to enable customers to grasp the status of all their EMC products and data center environments at a glance.
