Saves system space with a slim, 0.5mm pitch SMD type structure

Molex Korea (CEO Jaehoon Lee) has launched a slim FFC/FPC connector for ultra-thin LED TVs. Achieving the lowest height of 1.50mm among existing products of the same type, this product is a slim connector with a 0.50mm pitch and features a front-flip type surface-mount connection.

This product family, available in three models, is designed to connect the source board to the real-time control board located on the LED panel side of the TV. Accordingly, the transmission of high-capacity signals from LED TVs, which require connectors with a large number of circuits to achieve more dynamic screen quality, is expected to become smoother.

These slim FFC/FPCs, applied to ultra-thin LED TVs, enable efficient space utilization within the system, making it easy to add other functions. With electrical characteristics, voltage (max): 50V, current (max): 0.5A, and contact resistance values, these products boast a maximum insulation withstand voltage of 40 milliohms and feature 250V AC insulation resistance for 1 minute and a minimum of 50 megaohms.

These products also feature built-in robust actuators to prevent damage from extensive testing, durability, and rough handling. In particular, it stabilizes signal transmission by enabling actuators in large circuits, which can be damaged by rough handling or repeated testing, to maintain consistent performance even over multiple repetition cycles by mounting nails.

This new ZIF (Zero Insertion Force) series utilizes more durable contact materials to enable more reliable signal transmission. The high-temperature housing meets RoHS and low-halogen environmental requirements and is available in three circuit sizes ranging from 68, 80, to 96. "Developed to meet the trend of LED TVs for thinner screens while providing features for sharper images, this connector family is slim in both height and width, measuring only 4.40mm in width," noted Lee Jae-hoon, CEO of Molex Korea, emphasizing that this new product series is currently the smallest among comparable products in the industry.
