VR Camera for Smartphones Capable of 360-Degree Immersive Capture and Live Streaming Launched
Published2016.06.01 16:40ImmerVision, an immersive optical/imaging technology company that developed the 360-degree panomorph lens, and Quanta Computers, a notebook PC manufacturer, announced the launch of the world's first 360-degree live VR streaming add-on camera designed for the ever-growing smartphone market.
"We are honored that Quanta, a company with long-standing expertise in the global consumer electronics sector, selected ImmerVision's Panomorph technology for the development of its first add-on 360-degree camera for mobile devices," said Alessandro Gasparini, Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) of ImmerVision.
“Our goal is to provide brand customers and millions of smartphone users worldwide with unprecedented access to the most advanced Panomorph lens technology, enabling them to produce, share, and experience crisp, high-definition 360-degree footage in their daily lives,” they added.
Quanta's new 360 VR camera, powered by certified ImmerVision Enables 2.0, is small enough to fit in the palm of your hand and has a magnet on the back so it can be easily attached to any smartphone.
In addition, this surround-sight device features the latest high-resolution 360° x 187° Panomorph lens, 16Mpx Sony EEquipped with an X-MOR-HDR sensor, microphone, USB port, and onboard storage, users can choose to instantly live stream vivid, immersive content via Wi-Fi or record it on any software platform to share later.
Quanta’s new 360 VR camera add-on, designed for versatility, adopts ImmerVision’s Digital FoV Video Stabilization technology and can be used as a standalone high-definition 360 camera when attached to a jacket or helmet. It can be utilized as a wearable immersive action camera to capture, for example, heart-stopping panoramic shots of a soccer game or cinematic sunset scenes enjoyed while cycling.
Lightweight 360 VR cameras can also be used as family and personal surveillance cameras, allowing parents to check if their children have returned home safely from school or if their elderly parents are being properly cared for. Drone enthusiasts can also use 360 VR cameras to share or record incredibly clear, immersive footage without distortion from any angle or edge at outdoor events such as parades or festivals.
Quanta and ImmerVision will demonstrate this versatile new VR camera at booth G0232, Hall 3 of Computex, which runs from May 31 to June 4.
