Base Station Simulator MD8475A Provided

Anritsu announced that it provides coverage reaching 98% of eCall conformance test items (as defined by EN16454) using its simulator.

The newly released version of the eCall tester is expected to support the safe and stable development and production of eCall modules while maintaining high reliability.

eCall is an EU Commission project designed to ensure rapid emergency assistance for victims of vehicle accidents. When an accident occurs, the IVS (In-Vehicle System) detects the collision and initiates an automatic or manual emergency call to the PSAP (Public Safety Answering Point), providing information such as accident location, current time, number of occupants in the vehicle, and vehicle model as MSD (Minimum Set of Data), which is then converted and transmitted as an audio message.



PSAP operators can verify this information sent from the IVS to dispatch necessary emergency services and rescue teams, as well as directly communicate with vehicle occupants. The eCall system is scheduled to be mandatory on all new vehicles sold in the EU starting from April 2018.

Anritsu's base station simulator MD8475A with built-in eCall test functionality plays a critical role in system deployment by supporting up to 98% of eCall conformance test cases.

Anritsu plans to focus on connected car test solutions such as eCall using the MD8475A, as well as provide support for test environments and test scenarios for similar safety systems such as Russia's ERA-GLONASS.
