Recognized at the London Security Document World Conference

Gemalto announced that its operating system for the Sealys electronic passport was recognized as having the fastest reading capability in independent interoperability tests conducted recently at the Security Document World conference in London.

Sealys ePassport Embedded Software is the latest version of the Gemalto operating system compliant with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) regulations. It also meets the strict standards of Common Criteria EAL5+ hardened certification, which verifies the highest level of resistance to security attacks on electronic travel documents.


Gemalto's software was evaluated alongside other companies' electronic passports last May, and the test measured a data processing rate more than double the industry average.

Speed is critical to passport issuance, as it implies increased throughput for customization and quality control. The ability of immigration offices to quickly read electronic and biometric passports is also critical for authorities aiming to process millions of travelers as quickly and efficiently as possible without security concerns.

“With the rapid growth of the international travel population, fast passport decoding capabilities ensure high processing power and excellent traveler convenience.
