Use immediately after installing the UR robot application

Universal Robots announced today (22nd) that it launched Universal Robots+, which will revolutionize the automation industry, at the AUTOMATICA exhibition held in Munich, Germany on the 21st (local time).

Universal Robots Plus is a showroom for plug-and-play application solutions that can be used immediately upon connection to the robot body, offering new convenience to companies that want to use UR robot applications right after installation. By selecting accessories, end effectors, and software solutions at Universal Robots Plus, distributors and consumers can save a significant amount of time by ensuring a high level of security and predicting whether new applications for UR collaborative robots will function.

At this meeting, Universal Robots also introduced +YOU, a free program for Universal Robots application developers. PlusU plans to establish itself as a powerful marketing and developer support platform for the steadily growing Universal Robots application market.

Universal Robots Plus will be unveiled for the first time at Hall B5 (518) and the PlusU booth (341) of the Automatica exhibition held in Munich.

Universal Robots has established a unique environment through Universal Robots Plus to develop and showcase applications for its collaborative robots, the UR3, UR5, and UR10. URCaps, accessory components that maximize Universal Robots' capabilities, can be customized using hardware components, software plugins, or both. The ultimate goal of Universal Robots Plus is to shorten development time, reduce additional costs, and increase user convenience.

Esben H. Ostergaard østergaard, co-founder and CTO of Universal Robots, said, “Universal Robots Plus has enabled the developer community, distributors, and consumers to all benefit from each other,” adding, “We will provide free support services to developers participating in the development of UR CAPS through the PlusU developer program.”

He noted, “By using accessory parts displayed in the Universal Robots Plus showroom, partner distributors and consumers have been able to use URCAPS efficiently with just a simple plug-and-play solution, and reduce the costs associated with application development and testing.” He added, “In short, Universal Robots Plus collaborates with developers to provide a more advanced, efficient, and proven safe automation solution.”

Stefan Tøndering Stubgaard, Corporate Technical Support Manager at Universal Robots, stated, “Once developers obtain development licenses for Universal Robots Plus, Universal Robots provides the robots necessary for URCAPs’ testing and optimization processes through its local subsidiary,” adding, “Robots used for the development of new applications and solutions related to Universal Robots are provided at a discounted price upon request.”

Meanwhile, the developers will send the completed URCAPs prototype to Universal Robots to verify its feasibility. Tundering Stoopgard explained, “We thoroughly verify the quality of the product before introducing it to the showroom,” adding, “We comprehensively test the product’s functions to ensure the feasibility, operation, and compliance with Universal Robots’ quality standards of the new URCAPs.”

In addition, Universal Robots issues URCAPS quality certificates to developers. To receive the quality certificate, developers must prove that the developed solution is operating in actual applications and is being successfully used by consumers.

The service to showcase UR CAPS developed by developers on Universal Robots Plus is provided free of charge. Universal Robots offers all developers the opportunity to access a global consumer network through a professional marketing platform.
