Linear Technology Korea (CEO Hong Sa-kwak, www.linear.com ) announced the launch of a new µModule® regulator (Product Name: LTM4628). This product incorporates two step-down 8A DC/DC converter circuits, inductors, MOSFETs, and essential components into a 15mm x 15mm x 4.32mm LGA package. Furthermore, thanks to the low thermal impedance and high operating efficiency characteristics of the LGA package, it enables maximum output power DC/DC conversion from 12Vin to 1Vout under conditions of 70ºC without airflow or 86ºC at 200 LFM (linear feet per minute).
The LTM4628 is designed to convert input supply voltages ranging from 4.5V to 26.5V into two low-output voltages from 5.5V to as low as 0.6V, featuring a total DC output error of only ±1.5%, including line and load regulation. Each output provides up to 8A. By offering ultra-compact, low-profile solutions with benefits such as a small PCB footprint and reduced design time, the LTM4628 enables the rapid introduction of POL regulator solutions to the industry for applications such as data storage, routers, network switches, industrial automation, aerospace, and medical devices.
The LTM4628 includes an internal clock for multiphase operation, which is advantageous for reducing bulk capacitance. Additionally, this dual µModule regulator includes an onboard temperature diode, allowing users to monitor the internal temperature. Tracking and margining functions simplify supply sequencing and voltage correction tasks in complex systems using various voltage rails.
