Freescale Semiconductor (Korea Representative: Yeonho Hwang, www.freescale.co.kr ) has recently expanded its 32-bit ColdFire microcontroller (MCU) family to meet the requirements of increasingly high-performance home appliances and industrial applications. The new MCF51AG128 MCU family provides optimal performance and functionality to enhance system stability and integrity in applications such as washing machines, dishwashers, refrigerators, microwave ovens, air conditioners, industrial drives/pumps, and fans/compressors.

The AG128 MCU operates at a processor core speed of up to 50 MHz on a 2.7 V to 5.5 V power supply and includes 128 KB of flash memory and 16 KB of SRAM. Multiple package options combined with newly enhanced GPIO features provide maximum flexibility in layout and manufacturing.

The peripheral set is designed for efficient control of three-phase motor control applications and includes two 16-bit FlexTimers, a high-speed analog comparator, a 2-channel 16-bit PWM timer, a programmable delay block, and a 24-channel 12-bit ADC with PWM hardware triggering. It also includes features critical to system safety and integrity, such as a Cyclic Redundancy Check (CRC) engine that provides CLK failure protection and memory content verification for applications subject to standards like IEC60730, an external monitoring monitor, and an advanced COP with an individual clock method.

The AG128 product optimizes system performance and provides flexibility through unique IP, and reduces the load of CPU overhead and improves overall performance by handling data transactions and interrupt management with DMA and iEVent modules.
