SK Telecom begins distributing a new free version to KT, LGU+, and MVNO customers starting the 19th.

SK Telecom opened 'T map,' Korea's No. 1 mobile navigation service with 18 million total subscribers and approximately 2.2 million daily users (based on weekends), for free to customers of other carriers such as KT and LGU+, as well as budget phone carriers, starting at midnight on the 19th.

SK Telecom predicted that, considering the characteristics of mobile navigation where the accuracy of real-time traffic information generated increases as the number of users grows, the opening of 'T Map,' which has 18 million total subscribers and 2.2 million daily users (based on weekends), would benefit all mobile navigation users.

In particular, SK Telecom expects the free opening of 'T Map' to serve as a full-scale signal for its evolution into a platform operator.

SK Telecom announced on the 5th its decision to make 'T Map' completely free, stating that this decision was made to expand the subscriber base of 'T Map' and transform it into a platform, thereby entering potential future growth businesses such as lifestyle value/IoT platforms and connected car/electric vehicle businesses.

In fact, SK Telecom recently collaborated with domestic and international automakers, including Kia Motors and Jaguar/Land Rover, to introduce a solution that enables the use of 'T Map' via mirroring in select newly released vehicles, and has continuously increased the utilization of 'T Map' to evolve its transportation platform through the launch of services such as T Map Public Transportation and T Map Taxi.all.

To use 'T Map', existing customers of KT and LGU+ must also download the new free version. iPhone users can download it by searching for 'T map' or '티MAP' on the App Store, while Android users can download it on the ONE Store or Google Play Store.

With the launch of the new version for KT and LGU+ subscribers, downloads for the existing version will be discontinued. Even if the new app is installed, existing customer usage history data, such as favorites and recent destinations, will remain synchronized with the new version.
