Cypress Korea (General Manager Young-do Lim, www.cypress.com ) announced that it has added two products, the 2.3-megapixel VITA 2000 and the 5.3-megapixel VITA 5000, to its popular VITA image sensor family.

These new image sensors are suitable for machine vision, high-performance security, 2D barcode, and intelligent transportation applications. The new sensors offer a wide range of features, including pipelined and triggered global shutter modes, conventional rolling shutter mode, speeds of up to 92 frames per second (VITA 2000) and up to 75 frames per second (VITA 5000), and a 10-bit analog-to-digital converter (ADC) with serial or parallel outputs of up to 620 Mbps. These products feature programmable register functions to control different operating modes, configurable over a standard SPI interface.

The VITA 2000 can provide output in two standard formats: HD (1920 x 1080), commonly used in the security market, and 4:3 (1600 x 1200), popular in the machine vision market. The sensor array features standard 2/3” optical format lenses and provides four parallel LVDS channels.

The VITA 5000 features a standard 1” optical format with monochrome or color digital output capabilities. The pipelined global shutter function enables exposure while reading to reduce blurring. The sensor also operates in rolling shutter mode with Correlated Double Sampling (CDS) to reduce noise and increase dynamic range, and provides eight parallel LVDS. The new sensors are extensions of the performance of the 1.3-megapixel VITA 1300 family and the 25-megapixel VITA 25K.

These new sensor products are manufactured using TowerJazz ( www.towerjazz.com )'s advanced 0.18-micron CMOS image sensor (CIS) technology, which provides excellent performance along with low power consumption. Cypress currently manufactures all of its image sensor products in partnership with TowerJazz.
