AMD unveiled its new professional graphics cards, the Radeon™ Pro WX series, for content creation and engineering at SIGGRAPH 2016 in Anaheim, California. Based on the Polaris architecture, the AMD Radeon Pro WX series delivers powerful graphics performance that enables more realistic computing environments.

Recently, the industry has been experiencing various changes, such as ▲ the emergence of real-time game engines, ▲ the rapid rise of virtual reality technology, ▲ the active introduction of next-generation APIs such as DirectX® 12 and Vulkan™, and ▲ the emergence of a trend toward utilizing open-source tools and applications such as the Radeon Open Compute platform and Radeon ProRender, which was announced today.

The newly unveiled Radeon Pro WX series is an open solution that delivers high performance and powerful next-generation hardware technologies, and is an innovative product that helps industry professionals realize “the art of the impossible.” The Radeon Pro WX series graphics cards based on the Polaris architecture were developed with the following features in mind to respond to new changes in the industry.

Polaris-based Radeon Pro WX series graphics cards feature AMD's 4th generation Graphics Core Next Architecture (GCN), supporting next-generation 4K video encoding and decoding capabilities such as HEVC2 and VP9, as well as next-generation display ports such as DisplayPort 1.4-HDR3 and HDMI™ 2.0. It boasts high power efficiency through the 14nm FinFET manufacturing process and provides full compatibility with open source software through GPUOpen.
