Wolfson Launches Audio Hub Solution Enabling HD Audio
Published2010.12.05 10:04Wolfson Microelectronics announced the release of the WM8958 audio hub solution, which enables High Definition (HD) audio in portable multimedia applications such as smartphones, tablet computers, eBooks, and navigation devices.
The WM8958 is expected to become a new milestone in the field of HD quality audio, along with industry-leading AudioPlus™ products such as the company's digital silicon MEMS (Micro Electro Mechanical System) microphones, power management ICs, and noise cancellation solutions.
This multi-channel ultra-low-power audio hub solution provides a signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of 100dB during Digital-to-Analog (DAC) playback and minimizes power consumption during audio playback by incorporating stereo D/AB class speaker drivers and W class headphone drivers.
The WM8958 is equipped with an enhanced audio DSP that runs a Multiband Compressor (MBC). This feature allows for louder and clearer sound without overloading or damaging small speakers. MBC can amplify and optimize speaker output with an on-board parametric equalizer and dynamic range controller to provide excellent audio performance for multimedia applications and ringtone playback.
The WM8958 product combines powerful analog mixing, stereo sample rate conversion, and multi-channel digital mixing capabilities to provide a variety of architectures and usage scenarios.

ST Launches 75V Drive IC Targeting 48V Industrial Motor Driving
