World's largest 21:9 aspect ratio, wider screen than using two 24-inch monitors connected
34-inch gaming-specific monitor displays 144 frames per second for smooth screen transitions

On the 30th, LG Electronics unveiled the 38-inch UltraWide monitor (model name: 38UC99), the world's largest monitor with a 21:9 aspect ratio. It is a product optimized for multitasking, allowing users to perform multiple tasks simultaneously.

The market for 21:9 aspect ratio monitors is more than doubling every year due to the advantage of displaying multiple windows simultaneously. When playing games, they also show the edges of the screen that were difficult to see on conventional 16:9 monitors.


LG Electronics has maintained its position as the world's number one in the 21:9 aspect ratio monitor market for three consecutive years, from 2013 to last year, in terms of both revenue and sales volume.

The new product (model name: 38UC99) is the largest monitor LG Electronics has introduced to date. It features a QHD+ (3,840x1,600) display, which offers more than double the resolution of Full HD (1920x1,080). The screen is wider than using two standard 24-inch monitors placed side-by-side, which are commonly used for business purposes. Additionally, the IPS panel provides a clear image from any angle, and the curved screen design enhances immersion.

The new product, featuring an extra-large screen for a monitor, offers a whole new level of multitasking. Users can work with Excel and Word open on the same screen simultaneously, and search for strategies to defeat opponents by opening an internet window right next to a game. It is excellent for web design, music composition, video production, and photo editing, as well as for data analysis such as statistical work and stock analysis.

This product is optimized for enjoying games, movies, and more. Its proprietary 1ms Motion Blur Reduction feature reduces ghosting that can occur in fast-moving scenes. Additionally, AMD’s FreeSync™ technology minimizes screen tearing. It features two built-in 10W speakers for rich sound.

Convenience is also excellent. Users can connect via Bluetooth to listen to music stored on their smartphones through the monitor's speakers. Screen settings, such as brightness and split ratio, can also be easily adjusted with just a mouse. Additionally, by connecting the monitor and laptop using the USB Type-C port, the laptop can be charged without a separate charger.

LG Electronics also unveiled a new 34-inch model (model name: 34UC79G) more specialized for gaming. This product displays up to 144 frames per second, providing smooth visuals even with rapidly changing screens. LG Electronics will unveil its new monitors to the public for the first time at IFA 2016, which will be held in Berlin, Germany, from September 2 to 7. The company plans to launch them sequentially in Europe, North America, and Asia starting in October.
