Intersil, a global leader in the design and production of high-performance analog and mixed-signal semiconductors, announced today the launch of an efficient dual-channel step-down regulator that reduces the number of external components and optimizes design flexibility for high-power density industrial, telecommunications, and consumer electronics applications.
The new ISL85033 incorporates two high-side MOSFETs that supply 3A per channel or share a 6A current from a single two-phase output. With a wide input voltage range of 4.5V to 28V, it is an ideal solution for intermediate bus generators and point-of-load regulation.
The ISL85033 features capabilities that maximize performance and efficiency while reducing the number of external components and enhancing design flexibility. These capabilities include low-resistance power MOSFETs optimized for thermal performance, supporting output currents of up to 3A per channel. Additionally, a precise internal reference supports low output voltages of 0.8V. The PWM regulator switches at a fundamental frequency of 500kHz and can be user-programmed or synchronized within the 300kHz to 2MHz range, allowing for optimization between inductor size and conversion efficiency. SYNC-IN and SYNC-OUT signals enable the synchronization of multiple ICs without a system clock.
