KUKA Announces New Industrial Robot, Concluding Mini Robot Series

An industrial robot has appeared that combines the agility of Koo Ja-cheol, who creates opportunities in tight spaces, with the precision of Ji Dong-won, who scores goals with accurate shots.
KUKA Robotics Korea Co., Ltd., a company specializing in the manufacture of industrial robots, announced the launch of the KR3 Agilus, a mobile lightweight compact robot with the fastest speed and precision in its class with a payload of 3 kg.
The KR3 Agilus, weighing 26 kg and having a working radius of 540 mm, has an installation area of only 179 x 179 mm, making it easy to install and work even in confined workspaces. It can also be attached to ceilings and walls as well as floors, allowing for space-saving benefits.
The production of home appliances, information and communications, and computer products and components, which require short product cycle times and precision work at maximum speed within a set time, is a field where the KR3 Agilus robot can demonstrate its best capabilities.
The KR3 Agilus can handle parts with M1 screw size, which are small screws mainly used in eyeglass frames, without limitation, and can perform optimal functions for handling and assembling small parts such as pick-and-place, screw fastening, soldering, and bonding.
KR3 Agilus also allows for easy configuration of product applications as all installation and setup are software-based. It is available and easy to maintain and manage.
Lee Chang-hoon, CEO of KUKA Robotics Korea, stated, “As the number of new products increases and product life cycles shorten in the home appliance industry, the need for automation solutions is emerging,” adding, “The KR3 Agilus will be the optimal automation solution for the electronics industry requiring mass production through its minimal installation space, fast processing speed, and excellent precision, and will provide customers with an attractive return on investment (ROI).”

전 세계에 사용자 친화적인 협동로봇을 제공하고 있는 유니버설로봇(Universal Robots)이 지난 8일, 로봇을 직접 프로그래밍하고 동작할 수 있는 ‘테크니컬 워크숍’을 개최했다. 이 행사의 목적은 유니버설의 협동로봇이 얼마나 높은 유연성과 정확도를 지녔는지, 또한 얼마나쉬운 프로그래밍이 가능한지 보여주는 시간이었다. 행사에 참여한 참석자들은 UR5를 작동하여 원통의 물체를 바스켓에 옮겨 담는 “픽 앤 플레이스(Pick and Place)”와 펜을 쥐고 있는 UR3를 움직이며 종이 위에 그려진 미로를 빠져 나오는 “미로 찾기(Maze Run)”를 체험했다.
