Symantec Launches 'SEP Cloud,' a Security Solution Tailored for Small and Medium-Sized Businesses

Symantec (www.symantec.com) has launched the Symantec Endpoint Protection Cloud (hereinafter SEP Cloud), a solution for responding to targeted attacks and ransomware for small and medium-sized businesses.
The newly introduced 'SEP Cloud' can be installed quickly within five minutes and easily operated by personnel with general IT knowledge, while providing robust enterprise-grade security. In particular, it is optimized for small and medium-sized enterprises with fewer than 1,000 employees that require effective protection measures for corporate and personal devices on corporate networks. According to Symantec Internet Security Threat Report No. 21, 65% of all targeted attacks in 2015 were found to have targeted 'small and medium-sized businesses' to steal critical corporate information.
According to Gartner, 95% of global companies are expected to establish CYOD (Choose Your Own Device) and BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) environments by 2018, allowing users to choose and use their preferred personal devices.[1] These changes inevitably increase the burden on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with limited IT resources, and 'SEP Cloud' is expected to become a security solution optimized for SME environments.
Meanwhile, 'SEP Cloud' simplifies management issues—a typical pain point for small and medium-sized businesses—and reduces total operating costs by providing a single cloud-based console for endpoint protection, management, mobility, and encryption.
Symantec’s Vice President of Engineering, Javed Hasan, said, “Cyber attackers no longer target only Fortune 500 companies. “SMEs must protect their businesses by maintaining the same level of vigilance as large corporations against sophisticated cyber attacks and implementing the latest security features, such as machine learning,” he said. “SEP Cloud is a cloud-based solution equipped with all the necessary features to safely protect the information of SME customers without placing an additional burden on IT departments that have already reached their limits.”
Park Hee-beom, CEO of Symantec Korea, emphasized, “With cyber threats on the rise and 65% of targeted attacks targeting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), they now require a high level of security to respond to unknown malware and attacks, but face difficulties in investing due to limited budgets. The SEP cloud solution provides the latest security features as a service, eliminating the need for a separate management server. It enables integrated management of PCs, servers, and even smartphones, and allows up to five licenses per user, satisfying both management and cost efficiency.”

Databricks Unveils Open AI Security Monitoring 'Lakewatch'
Databricks entered the security market on March 24 by unveiling LakeWatch, an open-source agentic SIEM.
