Selected as Keynote Speaker Member Recognized for Leading Role in Global 5G Commercialization
Presentation of Vision for Reflecting 5G Trial Service Expertise and 5G Technology Standardization Work

KT delivered a keynote address at the NGMN IC&E (Industry Conference & Exhibition) held in Frankfurt, Germany on the 13th, presenting its 5G technology expertise and leading initiatives.

NGMN (Next Generation Mobile Network) is an international standardization body for mobile communications established in 2006 under the leadership of global mobile carriers. It is a global consultative body where 28 telecom operators providing communication services to 60% of the world's population, 35 global manufacturers, and 25 research institutions discuss next-generation mobile communication technologies and implementation strategies.

Since being selected as a board member of NGMN in January 2015, KT has been recognized for its leading role in global 5G commercialization, including publishing the NGMN 5G White Paper and supporting the 5G Work Program to convey key 5G service requirements to international standardization bodies, and was selected as a keynote speaker member for this NGMN IC&E.

In its keynote address on the theme of "KT's Plans for 5G and NGMN's Vision," KT will specifically present matters that mobile carriers should consider in addressing a new era, and announce its development expertise in 5G trial services for the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympic Games and plans to reflect 5G technology in NGMN and 3GPP 5G standards.

Lee Yong-gyu, Executive Director of KT's Network Strategy Division, stated the purpose of the keynote address: "Through this keynote, we plan to introduce to the world the 5G technology and service development expertise that we have accumulated since September last year through the PyeongChang 5G Specification Coordination Body."

Oh Sung-mok, Senior Vice President of KT's Network Division, said: "Beyond the PyeongChang 5G specifications to date, KT will continue to maintain 5G technology leadership in global standards bodies such as NGMN and 3GPP through our global standards-based 5G leading initiatives."

Meanwhile, KT was the only domestic telecom operator to participate in CEATEC (Combined Exhibition of Advanced Technologies) 2016, Japan's largest international electronics and telecommunications exhibition, at the invitation of Japan's 5GMF (5G Mobile Communication Promotion Forum) on the 5th, presenting its 5G promotion status and plans, actively promoting early activation of the global 5G ecosystem.
