Dell EMC Strengthens All-Flash Market with Major New Product Announcements

Dell Technologies announced the launch of the high-end all-flash storage 'Dell EMC VMAX 250F' along with various updates, unveiling a significantly strengthened all-flash portfolio. Leading the all-flash storage market, Dell EMC is providing groundbreaking cost-effectiveness and convenience for modern data centers through these newly announced products and updates.
First, the new all-flash 'VMAX 250F' from VMAX, the industry's highest-specification high-end storage, delivers groundbreaking cost-effectiveness along with enterprise-grade performance, availability, and data services simultaneously. It achieves over 1 million IOPS (Input/Output Operations Per Second) and response latency of 1ms (millisecond) or less, while providing existing VMAX data services such as remote replication software 'EMC SRDF' and data encryption software 'D@RE (Data At Rest)'. Additionally, the latest industry 7.6TB (terabyte) and 15TB enterprise flash drives have been added as installable drives, with scalability up to 1PB (petabyte).
The VMAX all-flash product line, including VMAX 250F, incorporates the new 'HyperMax (HYPERMAX) OS', maximizing storage cost-effectiveness and supporting seamless non-disruptive data migration.
The new inline data compression feature reduces floor space and management costs, improving storage cost-effectiveness up to 4x. In addition to simplified three-step non-disruptive data migration between storage systems, seamless non-disruptive data transmission between running applications and storage is also possible. Furthermore, HyperMax combines with the new 'Intelligent Data Mobility' service, reducing data migration time and costs by up to 65%.
Dell EMC's flagship virtual storage solution 'VPLEX (VPLEX)' is also newly updated for all-flash environments. VPLEX, which ensures continuous availability and non-disruptive data migration, reduces latency by 1/3 while enhancing performance through the update. With a scale-out architecture enabling non-disruptive expansion, it provides 99.99999% availability for mission-critical workloads, supporting the construction of modern data centers in all-flash environments.
Dell EMC's mid-range all-flash storage 'Dell EMC Unity (Unity)', which offers reasonable pricing and flexibility, now enables improved storage efficiency and cost savings through the latest update without additional costs. The non-disruptive, zero-downtime software upgrade for Unity, scheduled to be provided free at the end of this year, delivers up to 4x higher storage efficiency through all-flash optimization including inline compression.
Unity's new compression feature saves capacity costs by up to 70%, and policy-based data tiering transfers inactive data to public cloud to reduce TCO (Total Cost of Ownership). In particular, customers using Dell EMC's 'Virtustream' can reduce file storage costs by up to 60%. The self-service solution deployed in Unity provides increasingly simplified and automated data migration services.
Maintaining the number one position in global all-flash storage, Dell EMC also announced new records for 'XtremIO (XtremIO)', the leading all-flash storage market share holder. According to global market research firm IDC, XtremIO commands a market share approximately 2.5 times larger than the second-place competitor, and within just under three years since launch, it has been supplied to over 3,000 customers with a scale exceeding $3 billion.
Meanwhile, alongside the all-flash product launch and updates, Dell EMC also revealed updates and new products for the backup appliance 'Dell EMC Data Domain (Data Domain)'. Data Domain, Dell EMC's flagship data protection storage maintaining approximately 65% market share in the global backup appliance market, now incorporates the new software 'Data Domain Cloud Tier'. Data Domain Cloud Tier increases the total capacity manageable from a single system by 200% through up to 150PB of logical capacity.
Additionally, for long-term retention, it is the only data protection storage that can naturally create tiering across public, private, or hybrid cloud with deduplicated data.

Korean EMC (CEO Kim Kyung-jin) has been revealed to hold dominant first place in both the domestic All Flash Array (AFA) market and Hybrid Flash Array (HFA) market this year, according to a survey by Korea IDC. According to IDC's recent survey, Korean EMC held a 53.2% market share in the AFA market in 2015, which is more than three times higher than the second-place company's 16.2%, representing an overwhelming figure. Additionally, in the Hybrid Flash Array (HFA) market, the company was shown to lead the industry with a market share of nearly half at 46.3%.

Databricks Unveils Open AI Security Monitoring 'Lakewatch'
Databricks entered the security market on March 24 by unveiling LakeWatch, an open-source agentic SIEM.
