- A new solution integrating timing controller, power management, and LED driver on a single chip
- Supports cost reduction and miniaturization of netbooks, tablet PCs, and laptops
IDT ( www.idt.com , Country Manager for Korea: Sang-Yup Lee), a leader in core mixed-signal semiconductor solutions that enrich the digital media environment, has unveiled the industry's first single-chip power management solution for Thin Film Transistor (TFT) Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) panels used in netbooks, tablet PCs, and laptops. This new solution from IDT integrates a fully functional Low-voltage Differential Signaling (LVDS) timing controller with integrated power management specifications and a 4-channel LED driver for LED backlighting.
By integrating all these functions into a single chip, the IDT VDAP1000 reduces power consumption and board space, allowing system designers greater design freedom while simultaneously reducing the Bill of Material (BOM). In addition, the IDT VDAP1000 succeeded in reducing electromagnetic interference (EMI) by improving signal integrity and system performance based on spread spectrum technology.
"IDT's integrated devices will take tablet, netbook, and laptop panels to the next level," said Ji Park, Vice President and General Manager of IDT's Video and Display Business Unit (VDO). "IDT is the only company that provides system integration like this new product, which includes solutions for small TFT LCD panels and complete power management capabilities on a single chip."
Furthermore, Vice President Ji Park stated, “Integrated IDT PowerSmart™ technology frees up valuable board space, enabling designers to work more flexibly,” adding, “IDT provides an integrated system-level approach that reduces costs and board space by integrating programmable smart power management functions with well-known core silicon technologies such as timing controllers.”
