Acquisition of EnShape and AQSense Specialized in 3D Machine Vision Technology
High-speed capture of high-resolution images, easy setup of 3D vision applications

Cognex has announced that it has strengthened its 3D vision capabilities by acquiring EnShape GmbH and AQSense, companies specialized in 3D machine vision technology.

Cognex acquired EnShape GmbH, a 3D vision sensor and software specialist located in Jena, Germany, on October 27. EnShape's 3D sensors are capable of capturing high-resolution images at high speed using patented area scan technology, and do not require mechanical movement of objects in front of the device as laser line scanners do. The engineering team of this company, equipped with advanced expertise in the 3D vision field, will join the new Cognex Engineering Center in Jena, Germany and continue to contribute to technology development.

Additionally, Cognex completed the acquisition of AQSense, a 3D vision software company located in Girona, Spain, on August 30. AQSense develops and sells configuration software packages that help customers easily set up 3D vision applications and a field-tested 3D vision tool library. The company's software engineers have already joined Cognex's 3D engineering team.

Joerg Kuechen, Vice President of Cognex's Vision Products business division, stated, "Market opportunities for 3D vision are increasingly growing across multiple industries including automotive, electronics, and logistics." He added, "With the acquisition of these two companies and the establishment of a new engineering team with advanced expertise, we have further strengthened our capabilities to bring innovative new 3D products to market."
