Oracle (www.oracle.com/kr) announced major innovations across the Oracle Cloud Platform at Oracle Open World, new capabilities that will enable enterprises to run mission-critical applications in the cloud.

At the heart of Oracle's Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) solution is the new Database-as-a-Service (DBaaS) offering using Oracle Database 12c Release 2.

Oracle's new database is available for the first time in the cloud, enabling enterprises of all sizes to leverage the best-in-class performance, scalability, and reliability of database technology in a cost-effective, flexible cloud environment.

For the past 40 years, more than 300,000 customers have relied on Oracle Database technology to power their database applications. Now, with its new DBaaS offering, Oracle delivers the same performance, scalability, and reliability in the cloud.

Oracle Database 12c Release 2 fully supports entry-level to largest database workloads, delivering on-premises-grade capabilities in a cloud environment across database development, small and medium-sized business and departmental application operations, and enterprise application operations.

Oracle also announced a unified application development model for the Oracle Cloud Platform. This offering includes tools for simplifying the scaling and migration of enterprise workloads to the cloud, as well as for cloud-native and low-code development.

New PaaS features include a total of 19 new cloud services, including Container Cloud Service, Oracle Identity Cloud Service, Oracle Internet of Things Cloud Service, Big Data Cloud Services, and Oracle Analytics Cloud Services.

Many companies have sought to leverage the cost savings and convenience offered by the cloud, but have struggled to make the switch. Concerns about security, scalability, and complexity, uncertain migration options, fragmented tools, and inconsistent user experiences have kept companies waiting for a cloud solution with on-premises-level capabilities suitable for enterprise IT. Based on the newly launched service, Oracle will help enterprises experience the full benefits of the cloud from end to end.
