Faster propagation times and improved ESD performance up to 4kV

STMicroelectronics (ST) has released an upgraded line of 16V CMOS dual and quad analog comparators utilizing new-generation process technology. This reduces average current consumption to 5µA per comparator, while also enabling faster propagation times and improved ESD performance up to 4kV.

The new TSX393, TSX339, TSX3702, and TSX3704 are compatible with previous generations of ICs and significantly enhance the performance and efficiency advantages of ST CMOS devices over competing bipolar comparators. They offer a wide single-supply range from 2.7V to 16V and operate at standard voltages used in a wide range of applications, including industrial and automotive equipment.

This new device offers a temperature range of -40°C to 125°C and offers superior ESD performance compared to previous generation products, improving the reliability of sensing and control systems used in harsh environments.

The TSX393 integrates two comparators, while the TSX339 integrates four, and features open-drain outputs to simplify circuit designs requiring ORing or level shifting. The dual TSX3702 and quad TSX3704 provide push-pull outputs for stable signaling without pull-ups. It also has an output drive capability of up to 20mA, allowing direct connection to a wide range of analog or digital loads.

With the announcement of these latest devices, ST is also introducing new, smaller package types that ease design-in and simplify board layout and routing. The TSX393 and TSX3702 are available in a 2mm x 2mm DFN8, as well as SO-8, Mini-SO8, and TSSOP-8 packages. The TSX339 and TSX3704 are available in a 3mm x 3mm QFN16, as well as SO-14 and TSSOP-14 packages. ST is also qualifying the SO-8 and TSSOP-14 devices to AEC-Q100.

ST's new TSX-series comparators are now in production, with pricing starting at $0.395 for the TSX393 and TSX3702 (dual), $0.527 for the TSX3704 (quad), and $0.546 for the TSX339 (quad). All prices are in quantities of 1,000 units.
