Devices certified to the highest standards in the security industry, supported by independent certification authorities (CA).

STMicroelectronics (NYSE: ST) has launched two cutting-edge security modules that provide industry-proven shields to protect computers and smart connected devices from cyberattacks.

The new STSAFE Trusted Platform Module (TPM) provides an industry-standardized way to store system authentication data, such as encryption keys and software measurements, in inaccessible and unchangeable hardware, helping to protect PCs and servers, as well as a range of home and office equipment such as printers, copiers, home gateways, network routers, and switches.

This secure storage prevents attackers from compromising the integrity of the device, stealing personal data, or gaining unauthorized access or privileges that could compromise the system, data, or network itself.

The TCG's latest TPM 2.0 specification adds additional features over the previous TPM 1.2, including support for cryptographic algorithms and user hierarchy. The first device in ST's new STSAFE-TPM family, the ST33TPHF2ESPI, supports both specifications and allows easy transitions between the two, enabling OEMs to offer either TPM 1.2 or TPM 2.0 functionality on their latest device technologies. The second device is the ST33TPHF20SPI, which features the largest non-volatile memory on the market, providing storage of up to 110 Kbytes for sensitive data.

The STSAFE-TPM module combines ST's expertise with the ARM® SecurCore® SC300™ secure processor, which features anti-tampering, data monitoring, and memory protection features. Both devices are Common Criteria (CC) and Trusted Computing Group (TCG) certified for the TPM 1.2 and 2.0 protection profiles, and US Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) 140-2 certification is in progress. The new module comes with the RSA and ECC Endorsement Keys (EKs) required to support authentication, as well as associated key certificates signed by the independent certification authority Globalsign Ltd to ensure authenticity.
