Cypress Subsidiary AgigA Tech Launches 'PowerGEM,' a New Energy Module That Prevents Loss of Critical Data Due to Power Outages!
Published2010.08.31 11:06Cypress Korea (Country Manager Lim Young-do, www.cypress.com ) announced that Agiga Tech ( www.agigatech.com ), a subsidiary of Cypress, has launched a new PowerGEM™ (Power Green Energy Module), an intelligent, battery-free power subsystem that prevents the loss of critical data due to power outages.
The new PowerGEM (Green Energy Module) power subsystem utilizes ultracapacitors (or “ultracaps”) to provide transient power in the event of system power loss. PowerGEM modules enable designers to avoid issues associated with battery-powered energy sources, including environmental impact, increased design complexity, maintenance and inspection, short operating life, and high total cost of ownership. When combined with AGIGARAM memory modules, PowerGEM provides a highly secure and reliable non-volatile memory subsystem for performing critical data backup functions.
Aiga Tech recently announced the industry's fastest and highest density DDR3 solution as it expanded its Aiga RAM product line, with DDR3 solutions ranging from 1GB to 8GB.
Batteries are harmful to the environment and require maintenance, which increases the total cost of ownership. “AgigA Tech’s new PowerGEM module based on its proprietary UltraCap allows system designers to avoid many of the drawbacks of battery-powered memory solutions,” said Ron Sartore, CEO of AgigA Tech.
When AGIGARAM is used as a write cache in enterprise-grade applications, it provides building blocks that enhance performance while protecting against power outages and data loss. Along with power delivery, PowerGEM manages charge/discharge, cycling, wear monitoring, and other module details to ensure long lifespan and high reliability. The entire AGIGARAM Non-Volatile System (NVS) implements the AGIGASAFE™ control protocol, an easy-to-use host-controlled I2C programming interface developed by Agiga Tech. This protocol enables effective control of internal system functions, such as NAND flash management, while providing accurate monitoring and tracking capabilities. ST Launches 75V Drive IC Targeting 48V Industrial Motor Driving
