Global semiconductor equipment sales in the third quarter increased 5% compared to the second quarter.
Published2016.12.08 16:09SEMI, the international association for semiconductor equipment and materials, announced that global shipments of semiconductor manufacturing equipment reached $11 billion in the third quarter of 2016.

This figure represents a 5% increase over the previous quarter and a 14% increase over the third quarter of 2015. SEMI compiles the report based on monthly data compiled by 95 global equipment companies in collaboration with the Semiconductor Equipment Association of Japan (SEAJ).
Global equipment orders for the third quarter of 2016 were $11.3 billion, up 30% from the same period last year but down 5% from the previous quarter.
The table is presented in US dollars (in billions) and shows regional quarterly shipments, quarter-over-quarter growth rates, and year-over-year growth rates.

According to the June BB ratio report released by SEMI (Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International), the three-month average bookings for North American semiconductor equipment manufacturers in June 2016 totaled $1.71 billion, with a BB ratio of 1.00. The BB ratio is calculated by dividing bookings by billings. A BB ratio of 1.00 means that bookings are $100 for every $100 in billings. June bookings of $1.71 billion declined 2.1% compared to May bookings of $1.75 billion, and increased 12.9% compared to June of the previous year at $1.52 billion. June semiconductor equipment billings totaled $1.71 billion, up 7% from May billings of $1.60 billion and up 10.2% from June of the previous year at $1.55 billion.

Semiconductor equipment shipments in October increased by 9% compared to the previous month, but orders fell by 5%.
According to the October BB Ratio Report announced by SEMI (Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International), the North American semiconductor equipment manufacturers' net orders (3-month average) for October 2016 were $1.49 billion, with a BB ratio of 0.91. The BB ratio is calculated by dividing orders by shipments. A BB ratio of 0.91 means that for every $100 in shipments, there are $91 in orders.
