Infineon Technologies (Korea Representative Director Matthias Ludwig) has launched a family of wireless control receivers offering superior sensitivity and low power consumption characteristics. The TDA5240, TDA5235, and TDA5225 devices provide multi-band support (315 MHz, 434 MHz, 868 MHz, and 915 MHz) for global coverage and are optimized for various automotive applications such as Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) systems, Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems (TPMS), remote start, condition control, and alarm functions. Additionally, industrial and consumer systems such as short-range wireless data transmission, garage door openers, wireless alarm systems, remote weighing, and low-power telemetry can also benefit from these highly integrated wireless control devices. The new receivers can also handle some of the tasks typically performed by the system's microcontroller.

The new TDA5240, TDA5235, and TDA5225 are successors to the TDA5230/31 receiver family. Both devices incorporate the powerful digital data processing capabilities adopted in the TDA5230/31, along with an overall enhanced performance and feature set. They also integrate an IF filter (with the optional use of external filters) and a level shifter. This reduces the BOM by requiring only a few external components. The innovative integrated LNA (Low Noise Amplifier) concept provides system developers with enhanced design alternatives. Depending on the application's needs, the LNA can reduce system complexity and costs by extending the system range or eliminating the need for an external LNA.

The high sensitivity of the new product family (typically providing -119dBm for FSK and -116dBm for ASK) is due to improved digital signal processing that lowers the noise figure and noise band. Compared to Infineon’s existing receiver products that provide an average data transfer rate of 40kchip/s, the TDA5240/35/25 devices provide multiple embedded encoding and modulation circuits along with a data transfer rate specified up to 112kchip/s (FSK).

System designers can utilize multi-band, multi-channel receivers for system operation in the 315/434/868/915 MHz frequency bands using only one crystal for all supported frequency bands. The high-resolution sigma-delta fractional-N PLL synthesizer provides precise multi-channel resolution of 10.5 Hz.

Multi-protocol processing capabilities support flexible design based on a single platform. The receiver supports different modulations and non-modulations.
