Easy-to-use reference design kit

IDT has unveiled a high-efficiency 15W wireless power reference design kit.

This product embodies the ease of use and product support collateral that are hallmark features of the IDT Wireless Power Kit. The kit's compact wireless power transmitter and receiver meet the Wireless Power Consortium's latest Qi 1.2.2 specifications and operate with an industry-leading efficiency of 87%, delivering performance comparable to wired solutions. This reduces power consumption and cools the heat generated by fast battery charging.

With the release of its latest 15W kit, IDT has launched a library of turnkey wireless power solutions covering the 1 to 15-watt range. The 15W kit is optimized for infrastructures where high-power transmission is advantageous, such as homes, offices, and cafes. It is also suitable for use in tablets, industrial portable scanners, Bluetooth speakers, and mobile accessories (charging pads, smartphone sleeves, and cases, etc.).


Using wireless power technology is convenient as it allows charging without charging cables that are prone to being lost, misplaced, or damaged. It also enables water and dust resistance for electronic devices and prevents problems such as wear and damage to the device's charging port. IDT has previously introduced wireless power kits targeting 1–3W and 5W.

The IDT® P9242-R and P9221-R transmitters included in the new kit are flexible ARM-based devices that enable fast charging capabilities combined with industry-leading integration performance. Similar to previous products, the 15W kit allows for immediate prototyping, enabling engineers to incorporate wireless charging into their designs in just a few hours. The kit offers an optimized thermal design and seamless integration with drop-in reference layouts.

The kit's layout module creates instances directly on the system board. Additionally, the optimized Bill of Materials (BOM) is fully verified, allowing for confident component selection without guesswork. The expanded Collateral Digital Library removes existing design and support barriers regardless of application scale. Supporting materials include user manuals, layout guides, layout instance creation modules, schematics, BOMs, and Gerber files.

IDT will participate in CES in Las Vegas next month to showcase its latest wireless power products and technologies under the theme "A View from the Other Side of the Chasm." The IDT booth will be located at Sands Halls AD 40736.
