STMicroelectronics Supports Digital Set-top Boxes of Dish TV, a Leader in India's DTH Market
Published2010.08.10 11:32STMicroelectronics ( www.st.com , Country Manager for Korea Sung-keun Kang), a leading supplier of set-top box (STB) ICs, and Dish TV, India's largest Direct-To-Home (DTH) operator, announced that they have adopted ST's highly integrated System-on-Chip (SoC) set-top box decoder ICs for Dish TV's latest digital set-top boxes.
Dish TV has been able to provide innovative services to a wide range of customers through the supply of SD (standard) and HD (high definition) set-top boxes. Set-top boxes designed based on ST's decoders are an economical solution for both SD and HD, while providing the performance and high reliability necessary to support enhanced value-added features. Dish TV recently launched Dish Tru HD, an HD service product available on set-top boxes equipped with ST products, offering rich video and audio performance for the best user experience. Handan Information & Communication ( www.woojeon-handan.com ) and Arion Technology ( www.arion.co.kr ), Korean companies specializing in digital multimedia terminals, have designed and are supplying SD set-top boxes based on ST's STi5189 and HD set-top boxes based on STi7111, respectively, to Dish TV.

New digital set-top boxes equipped with ST’s high-density SDTV and HDTV SoCs are currently being rolled out to Dish TV subscribers across India. Through this, Dish TV is realizing its goal of further expanding its dominance across India by significantly increasing its subscriber base of 7.5 million and strengthening its leadership.

The STi5189 decoder installed in DC TV's SD devices supports not only basic zappers but also interactive DVRs

ST Launches 75V Drive IC Targeting 48V Industrial Motor Driving
ST마이크로일렉트로닉스가 48V급 산업용 구동 시스템 설계에 맞춘 75V 모터 드라이브 IC ‘STSPIN9P’ 시리즈를 공개했다. 새 제품군은 하프 브리지와 풀 브리지 구조로 구성돼 모터 종류와 출력 조건에 따라 설계를 확장할 수 있도록 한 것이 특징이다. 전원 회로와 보호 기능, 전류 감지 회로를 칩에 통합해 시스템 구성을 단순화했으며, 최대 500W급 애플리케이션까지 대응하도록 설계됐다. 회사는 레퍼런스 디자인과 데모 보드도 함께 제공해 산업 자동화, 로보틱스, 펌프, 팬, 조명, 섬유 기계 등에서 개발과 평가를 지원할 계획이다.
