LG Electronics has unveiled the 'LG Watch Sport' and 'LG Watch Style' smartwatches equipped with Google's latest smartwatch operating system (OS), 'Android Wear 2.0'.

LG Electronics plans to sequentially launch its new smartwatch in global markets, including the UK, the UAE, Taiwan, Russia, and Canada. It is scheduled to be released in Korea in March.


In the 'Android Wear 2.0' environment, smartwatches can be utilized as independent wearable devices, and iOS device users can independently use all Android Wear apps beyond integration features such as notifications. Additionally, Google's artificial intelligence services, 'Google Assistant' and 'Google Fit,' are pre-installed.

Usability has been enhanced by adding input methods that allow users to display a keyboard on the smartwatch screen to type text or write directly on the screen, alongside existing voice recognition. Users can also select pre-saved key responses to reply directly to text messages.

The 'LG Watch Sport' can be used independently without a smartphone. With proprietary communication including LTE, users can download apps on the smartwatch anytime and anywhere, and it features a built-in GPS chip to instantly check their location and use navigation. In addition, it is equipped with a 1.38-inch circular plastic OLED (P-OLED) display and Qualcomm's wearable-specific 'Snapdragon Wear 2100'. It also features a rotary side button that allows users to find apps or scroll through content without touching the screen.

It features enhanced durability using '316L stainless steel' and 'Gorilla Glass 3' reinforced glass, and is equipped with functionality for leisure activities such as IP68 water and dust resistance and a heart rate sensor. It will be released in two colors: titanium and dark blue.

The 'LG Watch Style' is 10.79mm thick and features interchangeable straps, allowing for various styling options. It will be released in three colors: silver, titanium, and rose gold. It is equipped with a 1.2-inch P-OLED display and IP67 water and dust resistance. It supports Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.
