LG Electronics Recognized for Cyber Security Capabilities to Counter Smart TV Hacking
Published2017.02.20 12:38LG Electronics has been recognized for the cybersecurity technology of its webOS smart TVs.
LG Electronics has obtained the 'CAP (Cybersecurity Assurance Program)' cybersecurity certification standard for its smart TV platform 'webOS 3.5' from 'UL (Underwriters Laboratories)', a global safety standards development and certification organization.
UL’s cybersecurity assessment program, ‘CAP’, evaluates potential cybersecurity issues, such as software security vulnerabilities and security levels against hacking threats in systems.
UL awarded this certification after evaluating LG Electronics' smart TV’s hacking defense capabilities, data encryption, security design, and algorithm safety.
LG Electronics webOS 3.5 Smart TVs are equipped with a security solution that not only blocks the installation of malicious apps but also protects the Smart TV from hacking and other threats. Through this solution, customer data can be protected by applying secure transmission technology between the TV and the server.
In addition, it is equipped with technology to protect developers' copyrights, allowing them to create and supply apps with peace of mind. Going forward, all apps registered on the LG App Store will be encrypted to operate only on LG Smart TVs, making illegal copying impossible.
