Targeting the $1 billion 20-40W replacement lamp market

October 25, 2011 – Bridgelux Inc., a global developer of LED lighting technology and solutions, announced today the development of the Micro SM4, targeting the $1 billion 20-40W replacement lamp market, further expanding its Solid State Light (SSL) product family. Combining surface-mount LED components with Bridgelux’s award-winning array technology, the Micro SM4 provides high flux density in a small footprint, making it suitable for applications utilizing discrete LEDs.

Bridgelux's Micro SM4 significantly reduces the number of components, cost, complexity, and size of lighting systems. Therefore, it provides an economical yet high-performance LED solution suitable for diffuse and directional lighting to replace 20-40W incandescent bulbs, 20-35W halogen bulbs, candlestick-shaped B10 style bulbs, or low-power compact fluorescent bulbs.

Bridgelux's Micro SM4 utilizes low power consumption of 4.6W to deliver 330–520 lumens across both warm white (2700K & 30600K) and cool white (5600K) color temperatures. The warm white model features a minimum 80/90 CRI option along with three levels of MacAdams Eclipse color selection. The Micro SM4 is scheduled to be supplied starting from the first quarter of 2012.

The newly developed Micro SM4 incorporates the latest epitaxial gallium nitride (GaN) layer growth technology as well as LED chip design and packaging technologies. These products have been developed to meet industry-standard driving currents to simplify the electronic driver selection process for the development of new lamps and lighting products, and support both 6V and 12V designs for driver design flexibility. Like all other Bridgelux products, the Micro SM4 comes with a 5-year warranty.

Meanwhile, Bridgelux will participate in the Hong Kong International Lighting Fair, held in Hong Kong from October 27 to 30, to showcase its latest products (Booth 1B-D22).
