October 24, 2011 – Keithley Instruments (Country Manager: Seok-Yong Yang), a world-leading manufacturer of advanced electrical test instruments and systems, announced five new general-purpose programmable DC power supplies designed to complement Keithley’s existing specialty power supplies and source measurement instruments for component, module, and device characterization and test applications. The Series 2200 family combines excellent voltage and current output precision with flexible operation at an efficient price, enhancing ease of use in a wide range of device characterization or test applications. The five models of the Series 2200 line provide maximum voltage, current, and power output levels designed to satisfy a wide range of sourcing requirements for characterizing components, circuits, modules, and finished devices.

High output precision
The voltage output precision specification of the Series 2200 power supply is 0.03%, and the current output precision is 0.05%. Both of these specifications are far superior to those of competing general-purpose power supplies. Additionally, high output (1mV) and measurement (0.1mA) resolutions make it suitable for characterizing low-power circuits and devices in applications measuring standby and sleep mode currents, enabling them to meet energy efficiency targets more demanding than ever before. Remote sensing terminals on the rear panel and noise levels of 5mVp-p or less help ensure that the programmed voltage corresponds to the power supply's actual output voltage. A dual-line display shows both the programmed value and the actual output to indicate the continuous state of the power delivered to the load (measurement).
Flexible movements
The Series 2200 power supplies include various features designed to enhance performance. For example, each model provides 40 onboard memory locations to recall and reuse frequently used test settings. Additionally, the built-in list mode function supports the programming and storage of seven custom test sequences with up to 80 steps. Once stored, sequences can be triggered using instrument front panel keys, automatically triggered via external triggers, or manually triggered using programmable interface commands. These features are not available in competitor general-purpose power supplies.
DUT (Device Under Test) protection
Some Series 2200 products help prevent DUT failure during testing by including a programmable voltage limit that prevents transient voltage output (even if a voltage above a threshold value is input to the instrument) and a programmable overvoltage function that drops the output to 1V or less when the overvoltage limit is reached. These limiting functions are in addition to a current limit setting function that regulates the current level that can flow to the DUT. In addition, the programmable timer can be used to turn off the output after a specific time interval, so the test can be programmed in advance without user intervention and without worrying about transient voltage or power applied to the DUT for an extended period.
Excellent ease of use
Multiple methods for adjusting power supply voltage and current settings are provided, including direct input via the numeric keypad on the front panel. Additionally, a rotary knob with adjustable step size simplifies the verification of the Device Under Test (DUT) response to changes in voltage or current.
The Series 2200 power supply can be easily controlled via a standard GPIB or USB interface. Since the USB interface is TMC (Test and Measurement Class) compliant, users can adopt standard SCPI command syntax. Standard instrument drivers allow the power supply to be easily integrated into automated test environments.

The Series 2200 power supply is scheduled to be available starting in December 2011.
