After removing the car headlamp from the molding die with a single robot, the gate, which is the trace of injected liquid plastic, was cleanly cut off.

KUKA Robotics Korea at the 'International Plastics & Rubber Industry Exhibition (Koplas)' held at KINTEX in Ilsan A robot automation line dedicated to the plastics industry was unveiled. It demonstrated the capability to manage two processes simultaneously using a single industrial robot.

KUKA, together with LS Mtron, a specialist in injection molding systems, and Jiyang Automation, KUKA's robot automation system partner, demonstrated an automation solution that integrates KUKA's industrial robots into a new injection molding machine. An automated production line applicable in a factory was recreated in the booth.



The KUKA KR60-4K, a medium-weight, semi-load-bearing robot used in this demonstration, is a shelf-mounted type that is installed on top of an injection molding machine to save space and increase workspace efficiency. The second axis is designed to be low to facilitate downward work, and it is optimized for plastic extraction tasks with a wide working radius.

Lee Chang-hoon, CEO of KUKA Robotics Korea, stated, “I hope that the automation solutions introduced at this exhibition will be applied in actual industrial sites, presenting another possibility for the plastics industry.”
