Fewer components and uses less power than USB Type-C

ams announced a technology to implement a noise-cancelling headset that can operate without a battery using a 4-pole 3.5mm audio jack.

The new Accessory Communication Interface (ACI) developed by ams transmits power, bidirectional data, and digital audio signals at speeds up to 16 Mbps using a microphone (MIC) line. As a result, manufacturers can miniaturize products by removing the battery and applying the ACI, and create accessory products using a 3.5 mm audio jack that reduce material costs and weight.

ams’ ACI solution enables the popular 3.5mm connector to be utilized more effectively than before. The ACI installed in the ANC headset can not only eliminate noise from the receiver (Rx) during voice calls, but also eliminate noise from the transmitter (Tx), which significantly improves voice quality during calls.



The headset is equipped with sensors such as gesture recognition, proximity sensing, heart-rate measurement, and temperature sensing to enable the use of various functions. You can also add displays or special lighting effects to the headset.

ams's 3.5mm audio solution uses 60% less power than USB Type-C systems, so it minimizes handset battery usage and reduces system costs by requiring fewer components.
