LG Electronics to Install Public EV Chargers at All Business Locations

The Ministry of Environment and LG Electronics announced that they will install electric vehicle chargers for employees at all of LG Electronics' domestic business locations within this year to activate EV distribution.
The Ministry of Environment and LG Electronics signed a "Business Agreement to Participate in EV Charging Infrastructure Expansion Campaign" at the Vehicle Components (VC) Business Division's Incheon Campus. Key officials including Ministry of Environment Vice Minister Lee Jung-seop and LG Electronics VC Business Division President Lee Woo-jong attended the event.
The main contents of this agreement are that the Ministry of Environment will provide installation subsidies for EV chargers at 16 LG Electronics business locations nationwide, and LG Electronics will provide free charging fees for its employees.
According to the public charger installation project being promoted from this year, the Ministry of Environment will support installation costs (maximum 4 million won) for one public charger per 100 parking spaces at LG Electronics business locations.
LG Electronics' 16 business locations nationwide, including Seocho R&D Campus and Pyeongtaek LG Digital Park, have a total of approximately 11,000 parking spaces, making it possible to receive support for installation costs for over 100 chargers.
LG Electronics has become the first major business location-owning company to participate in the EV charging infrastructure expansion campaign, and through this, employees can conveniently charge their electric vehicles for free during work hours.
If Mr. A, who resides in Anyang and works at Pyeongtaek LG Digital Park, commutes in a compact electric vehicle using the in-house charger (round-trip distance 86km, based on 20 days per month), he can save 2.38 million won annually compared to gasoline vehicle fuel costs and 1.51 million won annually compared to diesel vehicle fuel costs, as there are no charging costs.
Ministry of Environment Vice Minister Lee Jung-seop said, "Since the workplace is where people spend the most time after home, EV distribution will be further activated as more business locations install chargers," and "Starting with LG Electronics, we plan to further expand the participation of large-scale business locations going forward."
