TI Korea ( www.ti.com/ww/kr ) November 15, 2011 – TI, making embedded software development simpler, has significantly enhanced its industry-leading Code Composer Studio™ Integrated Development Environment, based on the Eclipse open-source software framework. Code Composer Studio IDE v5 makes product development easier and features a user interface with improved setup speeds through an installation package that is one-fifth the size. It is now compatible with Windows and Linux® operating environments and is available at a low price starting at $79, making it more affordable than competing products.
The Code Composer Studio IDE supports developers in navigating each stage of the application development process through a single user interface. This IDE also includes a tool suite that simplifies the software design of embedded processing applications by accelerating software code development, analysis, and debugging through a common development environment. Code Composer Studio IDE v5 is compatible with a variety of devices in TI’s comprehensive embedded processing portfolio, including TI’s single and multi-core DSPs, microcontrollers, video processors, and microprocessors.
Reduce time to market with the enhanced Code Composer Studio IDE v5
• User Interface Simplification – It informs developers when a call is needed, making development easier and reducing development time.
• Streamlined download and installation – By downloading and installing only what is necessary for the design, the time spent installing unnecessary elements is reduced, allowing developers to quickly add support for new devices.
• Eclipse Open Source Framework – Developers can customize the environment with third-party plugins, reducing the time required for troubleshooting, analysis, and profiling of embedded designs.
• Resource Explorer – An integrated browser that allows convenient access to example code from TI’s controlSUITE™, StellarisWare®, Grace 1.1 for MSP430™ microcontrollers, and other software platforms.
• Video Tutorial – Explains how to make good use of various features.
• Easy Migration – Software reuse is possible as you can easily migrate from previous versions of the Code Composer Studio IDE.
Additional Features and Advantages of Code Composer Studio IDE
• Outstanding code development environment – Enhanced editor and features such as code completion, code folding, source change history, markers, and the ability to link tasks with source lines. This reduces design and troubleshooting time. Additionally, developers can directly view images and videos in their original formats.
• Enhanced GUI Framework – Simplifies data and project management through the creation of “perspectives,” and allows for the complete customization of menus, toolbars, and ‘fast views,’ enabling developers to define features and views corresponding to specific tasks, such as editing and debugging programs across multiple processors.
• Multiprocessor Debugging – Intelligently manages the state and information of multiple cores without causing the confusion that occurs when each core requires an “individual” debugger. Over 1,200 third-party plugins support product development tasks such as static code analysis, source code control, modeling, and scripting development.
• Flexible project environment – Developers can control the versions based on the compiler and SYS/BIOS™ software kernel used for each individual project, allowing them to continue using the tools used when a project is implemented in maintenance mode, as well as take full advantage of the latest enhanced technologies for new projects.
• Server scripting interface debugging – Enables the automation of common tasks such as code verification or profiling.
• Update Manager Tool – Automatically manages tool updates.
