Trimble announced plans to bring wearable holographic technology to the construction industry through a collaboration with Microsoft.
This allowed construction professionals to take architectural models out of the screen, enabling them to efficiently interpret and interact with the spatial relationships between physical and digital information.
Microsoft Hololens is a head-mounted holographic computer that provides mixed reality (MR) experiences in a variety of commercial and consumer applications. When applied to the construction industry, the technology can enable architects and construction professionals to more intuitively accept and work with design data, and improve collaboration between remote companies. In particular, non-experts can also take in information while exploring projects in 3D.
“Trimble’s goal is to provide solutions that transform user experiences and business processes across a wide range of industries,” said Bryn Fosver, vice president of Trimble Construction Technologies. “HoloLens is expected to enhance communication, improve transparency, and change the landscape of design and construction,” he said. “Trimble is working with Microsoft to open a new era for the construction industry.”
