Autonomous Vehicle Seminars, Exhibitions for Family Visitors, Experience Zones Prepared

The 2017 Seoul Motor Show will open under the theme "Design the Future, Enjoy the Moment" from March 31 to April 9 for a total of ten days at KINTEX in Ilsan, Goyang, Gyeonggi Province. Viewing hours are from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM, with general admission starting at 11:30 AM on opening day, March 31.

The opening ceremony, held from 10:00 AM on March 31, will be attended by key figures including Minister Ju Hyung-hwan of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, Vice Minister Choi Jeong-ho of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, Yun Jang-hyun, Mayor of Gwangju Metropolitan City, Mark Knapper, Deputy Chief of Mission of the U.S. Embassy to Korea, Michael Reiter, Ambassador of the European Union Delegation to Korea, as well as representatives of participating companies, academia, and research institutions.

This Seoul Motor Show will feature 9 domestic complete vehicle brands including Hyundai, Kia, GM Korea, Renault Samsung, and SsangYong, and 18 imported vehicle brands such as BMW and Mercedes-Benz, for a total of 27 complete vehicle brands. Additionally, Genesis and Mercedes-AMG will make their first appearance as independent brands, and commercial vehicle brand MAN will also participate for the first time. Excluding complete vehicle manufacturers, parts, IT, tuning and camping, tire and motorcycle, accessories and service companies total 194 companies.



New vehicle models include 2 world premiere models, 18 Asia premiere models (4 concept cars), and 22 Korea premiere models (4 concept cars), totaling 42 models (8 concept cars). The total number of exhibited vehicles is 243 models with approximately 300 units, of which eco-friendly vehicles comprise approximately 20% with 50 models, and concept cars number 11.

Autonomous vehicle and related technology exhibitions will be featured. Hyundai Motor will showcase its IONIQ autonomous vehicle, and Naver will unveil an autonomous vehicle under development through its R&D subsidiary Naver Labs. Additionally, parts companies such as Hyundai Mobis, Mando, and Kyungsin will present autonomous driving-related technologies.

Autonomous vehicle test drives for the general public will be held from April 1 to 2, and eco-friendly vehicle test drives will continue throughout the exhibition period.

This Seoul Motor Show has prepared various supporting events including international conferences and seminars, as well as family-oriented experience programs. During the exhibition period on April 4, 5, and 6, international conferences and seminars will be consecutively held on topics such as "Autonomous Vehicles" and "Convergence of Automobiles and IT," which are key issues in the future automotive industry.
