Limelight Networks has announced its cloud storage service, 'Limelight Origin Storage Service'. Limelight has decided to provide free access to allow all users to permanently use up to 25GB of storage capacity.

Limelight’s newly announced Intelligent Ingestion feature has accelerated the CDN by simplifying the process of moving VOD, file distribution, web, game, and e-commerce content to Limelight Origin storage. Based on two modes—'User Requirements' or 'Manifest'—this feature helps customers decide which content to move automatically. They can move all content or selectively move it without interrupting the workflow.

Limelight Origin Storage is a distributed object-based storage system integrated with Limelight's private CDN. According to research by Sedecsys, an independent real-world user evaluation solution, Limelight Origin Storage was found to be 92% faster on average compared to other cloud storage solutions.

Paul van de Grift, Vice President of Vendor Relations and Management at Napster, a P2P music file sharing service, said, “It is no exaggeration to say that fast loading times are everything to our business. If loading times are delayed or buffering occurs, listeners may not use our service again.” He added, “Limelight Origin Storage solves these problems. By integrating Origin Storage into our CDNs across various regions, we can quickly and efficiently retrieve content that is not in the cache.”
