VMware: 43% of 500 Office Workers Fully Comply with IT Security
Published2017.04.06 14:49VMware Korea announced the results of a study investigating the current status of digital workspaces among office workers. This study was based on a survey of 500 office workers in various industries in Korea, including manufacturing, medical and healthcare, consumer goods, and the public sector.
According to research results, office workers are recognizing the need for a flexible work environment as their use of mobile devices and applications increases during work. On average, respondents use 2.4 devices and 5.4 applications, with primary tasks being checking and responding to emails and messages, financial transactions, and working on work files, in that order.
Among the response questions related to 'security,' the usage rate of devices authorized by the company was only 53% among the 87% of respondents who use personal devices. In addition, 76% of respondents said they were aware of IT security regulations, but only 43% said they were complying with them.
Regarding difficulties in handling work, 76% of respondents cited "using work applications," and cited problems such as "having many passwords to memorize" (39%), "inconvenience due to different interfaces" (28%), and "not synchronizing properly between devices" (25%).
Nevertheless, the response that "device utilization is increasing and improves efficiency" accounted for more than half.
VMware enables rapid digital transformation by centrally managing endpoints and leveraging cross-cloud architectures and optimized solutions for data centers, mobility, and security. Earlier this year, it updated its business mobility solutions, Workspace ONE and Horizon.
VMware Workspace ONE has integrated the VMware AirWatch version 9.1 update, enhancing integrated endpoint management including smartphones, tablet PCs, and laptops. Enterprises can prevent conflicts occurring on cloud or client management solutions and manage multiple endpoints immediately.
Horizon has added the Just-in-Time Management Platform (JMP) feature. This provides integrated management capabilities for virtual applications and desktops. It can reduce costs and minimize complexity when configuring applications or applying changed policy configurations across virtual, physical, or cloud-based Windows desktop environments.

VMware's 2016 Revenue Increased 8% Year-on-Year
VMware announced its 2016 full-year financial results. VMware's total revenue for 2016 was $7.099 billion (approximately 8.2924 trillion won), representing an 8% increase compared to the previous year. Databricks Unveils Open AI Security Monitoring 'Lakewatch'
Databricks entered the security market on March 24 by unveiling LakeWatch, an open-source agentic SIEM. The core functionality of this product is to integrate and analyze security, IT, and business data in a single environment to support AI-based threat detection and investigation. The company explained that it reduces the limitations of existing security operations centers, which have had to forgo some data due to high cost structures, and enables large-scale data analysis and automation based on open formats and ecosystems. LakeWatch is currently offered as a private preview, with Adobe and Dropbox mentioned as early customers.
