The Red Dot Design Award is an internationally prestigious design competition held in Essen, Germany, and is considered one of the world's top three design awards, along with the German iF Award and the American IDEA Award. Every year, experts from the design and related industries participate as judges, and this year, over 5,500 entries from 54 countries around the world competed. Following its recent win at the 2017 iF Design Award, Lenovo has once again received recognition for its design capabilities by winning at the Red Dot Design Award.
Lenovo won a total of 11 awards at this year's Red Dot Design Awards, with products from its Lenovo, Think, and Moto brands evenly recognized. Notably, this marks the first time that a diverse range of product categories—including not only laptops but also smartphones, digital personal assistants (Smart Assistants), mice, and monitors—have won awards simultaneously. In addition, the ThinkPad X1 Carbon has been named for four consecutive years, boasting excellence in design.

Lenovo products that won the 2017 Red Dot Design Award are the ThinkPad X1 Carbon, ThinkPad X1 Yoga, ThinkPad T470, Lenovo Smart Assistant, Lenovo Smart Storage, ThinkCenter M910 Tower Desktop, ThinkVision P27q Monitor, ThinkVision X27q Monitor, Think Wireless Mouse, Moto Mods, and the Moto Z family.
