ON Semiconductor has introduced the AR0521 CMOS image sensor, an imaging product based on a 2.2 micrometer (μm) back-illuminated (BSI) pixel technology platform specialized for security and surveillance applications.

This latest imaging solution provides 8, 10, or 12-bit output and boasts excellent video performance at 5MP 6fps (frames per second) in 1440p mode to suit 16:9 video. 2.2 μm BSI pixels, which provide a larger linear well while producing lower noise than smaller pixels, enable superior low-light performance essential for security camera applications.

The AR0521 supports multi-camera (stereo) by featuring an electronic rolling shutter and global reset release, while also providing advanced line synchronization control. Sophisticated digital processing functions, such as enhanced integrated color and lens shading correction, digital gain, and dynamic defect correction, deliver clean and sharp images.



The AR052, primarily aimed at remote video surveillance applications, consumes very little power even when operating at a maximum pixel of 60fps in 10-bit output. The operating temperature range is -30°C to +85°C, and it can be successfully used outdoors even in harsh environments.

AR0521, a product of programmable optical formats (4:3, 16:9 & 1:1), is suitable for various mid-range and high-end security applications such as panoramic security cameras, aerial security cameras, long-range security cameras, and speed dome security cameras.
