VMware Updates Storage Virtualization Solution vSAN 6.6

VMware has announced the 6.6 update for its storage virtualization solution, vSAN. vSAN 6.6 provides native hyper-converged infrastructure security features, lowers total cost of ownership (TCO) through enhanced site protection and intelligent operations, and increases all-flash performance by up to 50%.
The HCI security features of vSAN 6.6 include simplified management capabilities as a software-defined data encryption solution. Companies that adopt this can save on hardware purchase costs by eliminating the need to purchase expensive self-encrypting drives (SEDs) separately. Additionally, the storage platform can be monitored without operational interruption even when VMware vCenter Server is offline.
Enhanced site security supports a disaster- and downtime-free environment through local protection features. It detects conflicts between vSAN components and errors, reducing overall monitoring and operational time. It improves operational efficiency by allowing the addition and updating of new management elements without user intervention. Furthermore, vSAN 6.6 accelerates initial hardware installation and simplifies the software installation process through intelligent operations and lifecycle management features, while enabling the prediction of hardware status and lifespan via a one-click management controller.
vSAN 6.6's data service algorithms enhance the performance of key business and cloud-native applications. Support has been expanded from VMware Horizon, the existing VMware desktop and application virtualization solution, to include Hadoop, Citrix XenApp, InterSystems Cache, and Splunk. Furthermore, with the latest flash technology, enterprises can launch desired services or technologies to market using vSAN-based HCI solutions. VMware recently accelerated the performance of write-only applications, such as big data and streaming analytics, by becoming the first in the industry to support Intel Optane SSDs via vSAN.

VMware's 2016 Revenue Increased 8% Year-on-Year
VMware announced its 2016 full-year financial results. VMware's total revenue for 2016 was $7.099 billion (approximately 8.2924 trillion won), representing an 8% increase compared to the previous year. Operating income reached $1.44 billion (approximately 1.6839 trillion won), up 20% year-over-year, while net income was $1.19 billion (approximately 1.3918 trillion won), showing a 19% increase.

VMware: 43% of 500 Office Workers Fully Comply with IT Security
VMware Korea announced research results on the current state of digital workspaces for office workers. The study was conducted based on a survey of 500 office workers employed across various industries including domestic manufacturing, medical and healthcare, consumer goods, and public sectors. According to the research results, office workers showed increased usage of mobile devices and applications during work, demonstrating awareness of the need for flexible work environments. Respondents used an average of 2.4 devices and 5.4 applications, with primary work tasks identified as email and message checking and response, financial transactions, and work file operations in that order.

SalePoint Signs Multi-Year Partnership Agreement with AWS… Promoting Identity Security that Integrates Even AI Agents

Databricks Unveils Open AI Security Monitoring 'Lakewatch'
Databricks entered the security market on March 24 by unveiling LakeWatch, an open-source agentic SIEM. The core functionality of this product is to integrate and analyze security, IT, and business data in a single environment to support AI-based threat detection and investigation. The company explained that it reduces the limitations of existing security operations centers, which have had to forgo some data due to high cost structures, and enables large-scale data analysis and automation based on open formats and ecosystems. LakeWatch is currently offered as a private preview, with Adobe and Dropbox mentioned as early customers. Databricks also announced an expanded partnership with Anthropic as well as the acquisition of Antimatter and SiftD.ai.
