Western Digital has expanded its Wi-Fi mobile storage lineup by introducing the new My Passport Wireless Pro with 1TB and 4TB capacities.

My Passport Wireless Pro is a wireless external hard drive that provides wireless data storage and remote access capabilities, allowing users to perform various tasks such as transferring and backing up without having to bring a laptop when shooting outdoors. Western Digital first introduced the 2TB and 3TB models of the My Passport Wireless Pro last August, and has now added 1TB and 4TB capacities.

In addition, along with the launch of its new lineup, Western Digital released a firmware update that enables the instant transfer, editing, and streaming of outdoor photos.


The main features of the update are as follows.

The built-in SD 3.0 card reader and USB port allow you to copy or move files of various formats, including RAW format photos and 4K, HD, and SD videos, to the built-in hard drive. In addition to SD cards, the stability of content transfer with compatible devices connected via USB, such as DSLR cameras, action cameras, flash drives, and Compact Flash (CF) card readers, has been improved overall, and compatibility with GoPro Hero 4 and Hero 5 cameras has also been improved.

With a battery life of up to 10 hours, it provides seamless transfer, editing, and streaming performance between the My Passforce Wireless Pro and iOS and Android-based devices and applications.

New features in My Passport Wireless Pro include the ability to scan metadata in your photo library while on the go and automatically generate thumbnail previews in the My Cloud app.

With the update, you can stream media content, listen to music, watch videos, and browse photos directly from My Passport Wireless Pro based on the even simpler and more powerful Flex interface.
