Western Digital has launched the 'WD Purple 10TB', a high-capacity hard drive (HDD) specialized for security surveillance applications.

Unlike standard HDDs designed for an average of 8 hours of daily use, the WD Purple 10TB HDD is optimized for security surveillance systems that require continuous 24-hour operation. It supports up to 64 high-definition (HD) cameras based on various recording systems, including Personal Video Recorders (PVRs), Digital Video Recorders (DVRs), and Network Video Recorders (NVRs).

The WD Purple 10TB HDD demonstrates stability, low power consumption, and scalability even during 24-hour recording. HelioSeal technology, a helium-filled technology, and All-Frame 4K, combined with cache management technology and ATA streaming support, reduce video frame loss to improve data delivery and video playback capabilities.



In addition, it is composed of tarnish-resistant components and supports a multi-bay system capable of handling an annual workload of 180TB. Based on this, it provides performance optimized for 24-hour continuous operation and can be used in any small, medium, or large high-definition security surveillance system that requires high specifications.

WD Purple HDDs are designed to meet security surveillance equipment standards for easy integration into existing video surveillance systems, and through extensive testing, they can be used with most major brand systems and chipsets without compatibility concerns. Through close collaboration with various partners, Western Digital has defined the performance standards required by security surveillance systems and has exclusively developed benchmarks to verify them.
