Samsung 'FlexWash' Receives Recognition for Ergonomic Design in the U.S.

Samsung Electronics’ ‘FlexWash’ won the ‘Best of Best’ award at the ‘17th Ergonomic Design Award’ ceremony held at the Kensington Resort in Jeju on the 28th.
The 'Ergonomic Design Award,' organized by the Korean Society of Ergonomics, selects winning products every year by evaluating various criteria such as ease of use, efficiency, functionality, emotional quality, safety, and marketability.
'FlexWash' is a 3-door all-in-one washing machine that combines the upper 3.5kg fully automatic washing machine 'CompactWash' and the lower large-capacity drum washing machine 'AddWash', and was selected in recognition of the excellence of its ergonomic design that minimizes physical strain.
The Korean Society of Ergonomics highly evaluated 'FlexWash' for its design that induces natural usage behavior and incorporates systematic and scientific ergonomic analysis techniques, as well as the usability and safety of the 'AddWash' door located at the bottom.
Samsung Electronics conducted electromyography tests on body parts where washing machine users might feel strain and analyzed various movements to apply the most comfortable viewing angle and range of motion to the FlexWash.
This allows even users with smaller physiques or shorter stature to extend their arms far when opening and closing the upper 'Compact Wash'It is designed so that there is no need to bend over or lift your shoulders excessively when taking out laundry, and it can be used comfortably without any inconvenience.
Meanwhile, 'FlexWash' was verified as a product that efficiently reduces energy consumption by obtaining Energy Star certification from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) earlier this year. Being recognized by Energy Star evaluates energy efficiency, enabling users to save costs and protect the environment.
In particular, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency announced revisions to Energy Star, adding "household washing machines with auxiliary washing systems" to the eligible product categories starting in 2018, coinciding with the launch of Samsung's "FlexWash."
