SKT's third series of children's smartwatches features Mickey Mouse and Iron Man.
Published2017.05.02 14:30SK Telecom announced on the 2nd that it will be releasing three types of Cookies Watch 'JooN Special Edition' in collaboration with Disney, featuring designs of popular Disney and Marvel characters such as Mickey Mouse, Elsa from Frozen, and Iron Man.
SK Telecom releases the Cookies Watch Jun series every year for children from preschoolers to elementary school students, which allows for voice calls and location tracking.
The newly released Jun Special Edition maintains the child safety management and waterproof features of the existing Cookies Watch Jun 3, but is a model with a new design featuring Disney and Marvel characters on the watch, band, and menu screen. The retail price is 283,800 won.
The design features Mickey Mouse, Elsa from Frozen, and Iron Man, and each model can sequentially select five additional character themes. In addition to the character designs for the special edition, SK Telecom has also introduced a good habit-building feature to help parents improve their children's lifestyle habits. This allows children to earn Disney and Marvel character-specific stories and watch faces if they complete all four daily tasks designated by their parents.
SK Telecom's Cookies Watch Jun series supports safety features such as ▲movement route ▲real-time location confirmation through map ▲notification when leaving a safe area.
Kim Seong-su, head of SK Telecom’s Smart Device Division, said, “With May being Family Month, kids’ phones are gaining popularity as a gift that children want to receive, so we expect the June Special Edition to be very popular,” adding, “SK Telecom plans to continue releasing customized smart devices that reflect the tastes of various customers.”

삼성전자 마시멜로, 아이들 올바른 스마트폰 사용 자율과 보상으로
삼성전자는 아이들 스마트폰에 강제와 제한이 아닌 자율과 보상을 강조한 자녀 스마트폰 관리 앱 '마시멜로우'를 출시했다. ‘아이들이 무력화 시킬 수 없는 앱’에 대한 관심이 높은 때, 자녀에게 규칙을 지키면 포인트를 부여해 자발성을 키워주는 앱이다. 1970년대 스탠포드 대학에서 4살 아이들을 상대로 자기통제 능력을 연구한 ‘마시멜로 테스트’를 모티브로 개발했다. 기존 아이들을 관리하는 앱은 열공, 자유, 스스로 관리 모드로 나뉘어 열공 모드일 경우 갤러리, 메시지, 전화, 카메라만 가능하다. 자유모드에서도 사용 가능한 앱은 부모가 설정할 수 있다. 반면, 마시멜로 앱은 마시멜로 모드, 관리 앱, 그리고 기프트 기능으로 나뉜다. ‘마시멜로 모드’는 자녀가 직접 고른 최대 8개의 앱만 사용할 수 있는 스마트폰 사용 환경으로 허용된 앱을 제외하고는 알람 수신 등이 제한되어 습관적으로 스마트폰을 확인하는 시간을 줄여준다. 자녀가 마시멜로 모드를 얼마나 이용 할지는 자율적으로 선택할 수 있지만 이 모드를 자주 사용 할수록 사용 계획 목표 달성 배지와 레벨 업, 마시멜로 포인트 등을 보상 받을 수 있다.
