An innovative elemental analysis instrument that operates solely on nitrogen from air without requiring flammable gas or argon gas has been launched.

Agilent Korea (Representative Kim Seung-yeol) has announced the launch of the 'Agilent 4100 MP-AES' (Microwave Plasma-Atomic Emission Spectrometer), which fundamentally transforms existing elemental analysis methods.

The product's most distinctive feature is that it uses nitrogen plasma generated from nitrogen in air, enabling sample analysis without the need for expensive flammable gas, thereby reducing laboratory operating costs. Additionally, since there is no need to connect piping or handle and transport gas cylinders for gas supply, laboratory safety can be improved.

Agilent noted that the 4100 MP-AES is ideal for analytical laboratories with unstable gas supply or mobile laboratories since it requires no external cylinders or continuous gas supply. The company particularly emphasized that it is highly suitable for analyzing high concentrations of alkali in petrochemical products and trace impurity analysis.

The 4100 MP-AES applies microwave technology to the spectrometer, improving the reliability of test results. With its magnetic field-based microwave plasma source, it offers faster measurement speed compared to flame atomic absorption spectrometers, and superior measurement range and detection limits. With low detection limits and significantly expanded quantitative range, even trace samples can be analyzed quickly and easily, eliminating the time spent diluting high-concentration samples.

Additionally, Agilent provides proprietary user software that allows users to set, save, and retrieve analysis methods for different application fields. Analysis can begin immediately without the need to set analysis parameters or optimize the instrument for each measurement. The system is easy and simple to use, requiring minimal training time.
