With an RF booster pack including ETSI-compliant and FCC-certified modules
Cost reduction and shortening of development time for toys, remote controls, home automation, security systems, etc.
TI Korea ( www.ti.com/ww/kr ) December 9, 2011 – TI, a leader in highly integrated wireless connectivity solutions, has released a sub-1 GHz RF (radio frequency) plug-in board for the MSP430™ microcontroller LaunchPad development kit. The new 430BOOST-CC110L RF Booster Pack includes ETSI-compliant and FCC-certified modules, enabling faster development time, reduced certification costs, and solutions for RF hardware design challenges. The RF Booster Pack and MSP430 LaunchPad provide an affordable solution for cost-sensitive sub-1 GHz RF applications, such as remote controls, toys, home and building automation, and security systems. The 430BOOST-CC110L is available for $19, and the MSP430 LaunchPad can be purchased separately for $4.30. (For more information, please visit www.ti.com/rfboosterpack-pr )
“We are pleased to provide wireless connectivity solutions for the more than 100,000 MSP430 LaunchPads currently in use on the market,” said Erling Siemensen, Marketing Manager for Low Power RF Products at TI. “TI will provide a simple and affordable development platform for developers who want to develop innovative wireless products using the MSP430 microcontroller,” said TI. “By combining TI’s industry-leading ultra-low-power MSP430 microcontroller with affordable sub-1 GHz RF transceivers, we have provided a convenient, affordable, and scalable solution that enables cost-sensitive consumer applications to be wirelessly connected.”
The RF module included in the RF booster pack is an ETSI-compliant and FCC-certified mass-production module that can be purchased separately. The A110LR09A RF module can be purchased through Anaren, a third-party developer of TI, and can be tested using the 430BOOST-CC110L development tool.
Key Features and Benefits: TI's 1GHz RF Booster Pack
• Easily add sub-1GHz wireless connectivity to the MSP430 LaunchPad (MSP-EXP430G2)
o RF Booster Pack – Provides two plug-in boards featuring an RF module integrating TI's CC110L sub-1GHz RF transceiver, passive components, and a compact PCB antenna.
o Software and data CD
o Easily add RF functionality to any system with an easy-to-use wireless software stack (Analen's AIR Booster Stack).
• Reduction in development costs
o Total price of the entire RF Booster Pack development environment is less than $30: 1 430BOOST-CC110L RF Booster Pack ($19) and 2 MSP430 LaunchPads ($4.30 each)
o By providing ETSI-compliant and FCC-certified solutions, the costly intentional radiator approval process can be bypassed.
o Designers can add modules as embedded PCB components without requiring RF hardware design.
o Provides free software development tools to write, debug, and compile code with MSP430 Value Line devices
• Utilizing product scalability
o Operates in the 868MHz and 915MHz bands
o Programs developed with the MSP430 LaunchPad can be migrated to higher-end MSP430 device products.
o The CC110L-based A110LR09A module is available for separate purchase from TI's third-party developer, Anaren.
